Rhododendron Essential Oil Monograph

Rhododendron is also known as Sunpati oil and has long been used in Tibetan medicine as herbal tea to ease digestive issues and to promote inner balance. The essential oil obtained by distilling this beautiful and delicate flower has unique healing properties and a remarkable aroma profile.

Rhododendron essential oil is very helpful for easing sore joints and muscles; it supports the respiratory system and it is a milder option to Peppermint and Eucalyptus when used as a decongestant.  Its calming and grounding aroma is ideal when meditating.; it supports relaxation, centering and eases falling asleep.

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and astringent properties, it is useful to balance congested and blemished skin.

Method of Extraction: Steam distillation of the aerial parts

Color: Pale yellow

Aroma: Sweet, balsamic.  herbal, floral

Yield: 0.2 % – 0.5%

Blends well with: Pine, Juniper, Lemon, Kaffir Lime, Ginger, Black Pepper, Lavender, Frankincense, German Chamomile, Cedarwood

Therapeutic properties: Cooling, Astringent, Antiseptic, Sedative, Analgesic, Antibacterial, Anti-inflammatory, Antispasmodic, Decongestant.

To encourage calm, relaxation and improve sleep, burn or diffuse 2-5 drops every 5 hours.

To relieve muscle pain, dilute 4-5 drops every 5 ml of carrier oil and massage.

Not suitable for children.
